In 2008 Chris won a major commission from Shaftesbury plc to make a series of panoramas of their extensive property holdings throughout the West End. They gave Chris pretty much a free hand, their only real requirement being that some streets be recorded both by day and by night.
This shot was the first of the night-time ones and in the end it required three trips to London to complete: The first retake utilised much slower shutter speeds and the final shoot repeated this but in combination with a wet weather forecaste. This combination worked well as it showed pre-Xmas Carnaby Street's bustling figures as coloured blurs (in contrast to the pin-sharp window manequins) and newly-soaked pavements alight with reflected window displays.
