Waves expire on the shell-strewn beach at Littlehampton, West Sussex beneath a sign warning against swimming - due to the strong currents from the adjacent mouth of the River Arun.

It is an image that was a long time in the making in that when Chris first saw the location in these conditions he was cameraless. It was before he had actually moved to Sussex too so, despite repeatedly revisiting the same spot over the following couple of years, he didn't manage to time it quite right: At first the state of the tide was wrong; then, when he managed to consistently time that right, the light just didn't come close to comparing...

Until eventually things finally all fell into place - and the image was made.
