Dark forboding days in London (or anywhere for that matter) can give brief and unexpected moments of good light as a fleeting chink in the cloud cover, for example, gives sudden emphasis to a small detail. This can be anything from a dramatic shaft of sunlight to a short-lived patch of background brightness.
Here camera position has given additional emphasis to the effect as the detail in question - a silhouetted figure pausing on a just-visible section of Waterloo Bridge - is positioned in the corner of the close-at-hand riverside wall.
