As explained, the quality of light at the making of the previous shot ('Fog and Low Tide at Deptford 1') was simply stunning - and it lasted long enough for Chris to carefully compose that image's elements into a satisfying, concidered arrangement. The additional facet of this second capture - the in-flight bird - called for an instant reaction as he, as he puts it: "slammed the shutter as a pigeon flew right at me from nowhere".
In fact, the shot sat in the camera, unregarded, on the assumption (the camera was hand-held) that the whole thing would be a complete mis-directed blur and it was only subsequently, in a real 'Wow!' moment whilst sat at the computer screen, that the fortuitous quality of the capture was revealed.
