This shot was made in the quietness of a clear-skied May morning, just short of the point where the River Arun meets the sea at Littlehampton.
As Chris writes: "There had been rain overnight but there were still a miscellany of early risers out and about, not just the dog-walker of the eventual title: An early-shift road sweeper was checking out the seafront that the still earlier cyclist had already negotiated. The state of the tide meant that fishing boats en-route for the sea passed by so low down they were all but out of sight. And even in the far distance - on the less developed side of the river - the links golf holes were were already up-and-running as a golfers concentrated on their swings amidst the sandunes of West Beach".
