On a first visit to the USA Chris made no fewer than five panoramas at this location in Washington DC: the junction of Pennsylvania Avenue and 7th Street NW - known as "Archives". The vantage point for this particular one features an equestrian statue of Winfield Scott Hancock, a Civil War general that was - remarkably enough - greatly admired by both sides. No mean acheivment in that most polarising of conflicts.
Significantly though, this is also the closest Metro station to the wonderful Washington National Gallery of Art and it was this fact - as much as anything - that kept Chris returning. The News: Dec 2012 page explains.
