This was the first occasion where Chris purposely manipulated an image to include a foreground figure more than once. As he explains: "I'd photographed this guy several times as he progressed past me, taking picures of his own. Only when he wandered into the road - eye still pressed to the viewfinder - did his wife(?) appear and protectively grab him.
At the time I thought that maybe ONE of my shots might work. Later though, when assessing the images, it occured to me that including more than one would give the image a narative element - a little cameo performance. Now the technique reminds me of the effect produced in medieval religious imagery, where Christ is often shown in successive scenes of the same biblical story".
