There are a lot of parallel lines in this image. In fact it was this that first attracted Chris' attention when he paused for a coffee one afternoon in Brighton. The awning at the top is the most obvious but then, when he considered the scene at large, the more strictly rigid lines of the furniture and the decking were also key - especially the way that the table's lines were oriented so acutely to those above.

There followed a short time in which he performed his usual ritual of organising the precise angle of camera and focal length to best accentuate what he'd visualised but then followed a longer period - and couple more coffees - as he waited for that certain extraneous something to happen past to, as it were, "complete" the image... (Perhaps in the space opposite the entrance? Where the shop windows provided still more geometric shapes?). Cue the passer-by pushing the bike:

"I subsequently felt the bike to be a particularly happy accident in that not only were all these straight lines suddenly given the perfect foil in the uncompromisingly round cycle wheels but also the same wheels were perfectly echoed in the crockery on the table immediately below. Even the letters of the newspaper title of 'NoNo' (referring to the Brighton streets 'North of North Street') seemed to reflect this straight lines and circles theme!".
